A little ragged around the edges, what with the replacement of Lee Tracey and Hawks too (I think), but this is still a sprawling, entertaining film with a good cynical screenplay and great performances by Beery and Carillo.

If the screenplay was a darkly cynical take on politics the director didn't seem to care or notice. With the exception of well lensed and paced action sequences and montages, this is a rather eye-rolling unwatchable mess. And Mr. Beery is out to ham you into submission.

Wallace Beery as the notorious revolutionist Pancho Villa. And it's quite a complex man he's being. A man that loved killing, handling women rough and at the same time being one of the most humble guys in the world. Well, that's the Beery version of "La Cucaracha". Beery is Beery. One of the most lovable heavies of his era and few could be as charmingly dumb as him. It's just good fun so just let loose and sing along to "La Cucaracha" as the killing spree goes on!
