Corman seems surprisingly comfortable working well outside his element here. The aerial scenes will be the main draw for anyone interested in WWI-era planes. Unfortunately they're not nearly as well-done as in "Aces High", but they're at least more period-correct than "The Blue Max." The narrative does not compel much interest in the two main characters, but the theme of old codes of honour and chivalry giving way to the base inhumanity of war is effective.
