Voyage of the Rock Aliens

This 80's musical starring Pia Zadora is one of the most horrible pieces of shit I've ever seen. Lame songs, wretched fashions, ridiculous aliens...it should score much lower but there's a definite train wreck effect. It's kinda hard to look away from even though it's completely awful.

I thought this was pretty terrible right up until the second it began, at which point I was won over. It opens with a v-neck guitar shaped spaceship and then moves into a Jemaine Jackson/Pia Zadora music video after which Jemaine never returns. Craig Sheffer takes his place as a Fonz type in a love triangle with Pia and the idiot from School Spirit playing an alien with the fashion sense of The Hart Foundation from WWF Wrestling. A goof fest of the best variety.

This sci-fi/musical/"comedy" B-movie is tediously bad. The film's title had so much potential to be the good kind of cheesy camp. However the movie is instead an odd 80's "New Wave" "Grease"(1978) remix with some aliens, making for some kind of fascinatingly bad sci-fi/comedy that has extend breaks of bad generic music. Only to be watched by hardcore Pia Zadora fans. (Re-watch Edit: The movie's silly charm was more clearly on display this time around, but the movie's shtick still gets old quick)

It's Grease with Devo.

Great fun. Some great songs and a lovely story which even took a nice twist towards the end which I wasn't expecting. Even had some laugh out loud moments for me too. On the negative side some songs are only ok and the pace was perhaps a little slow, (especially the start) but overall a great hidden gem. So glad people are still watching it on YouTube and places.

When this is a weird music video it's great, it's relentless in how stupid and silly it gets. Then the escaped killers plot drags it to a total halt. I just want to see more stupid dance numbers!! It's so good when the guy who directed one Michael Jackson music video tries to flex one more time.
