Political satire doesn't really cover it -- how about "politically charged mind-f**ck"? Does that explain it? Perhaps they should have spent less time on "political" and "satire" and more one "interesting" and "watchable."

Cusack is as good as always but the satire is a bit over the top and never really hits the target.

The concept was good, but the execution was poor. A farcical attempt to portray the military-industrial complex in the near future.

Successor to Grosse Point Blank my ass. This film fails at the political satire it tries to pass itself off as. The shitty thing is, Cusack still kicks ass in the film, but none of the other actors can pull their weight, from a lackluster Tomei, to an awkward Duff, to about the worst performance I've seen from big sis Cusack (probably the shitty character design). The film can't decide rather it wants to be over the top or not. And it started so well....

Dull and bizarrely over-the-top action/war/satire from John Cusack. The swipe at the the military industrial complex feels about three years too late.

I like John Cusack but this movie was a huge letdown. Their attempt at satire felt really forced and they went for all of the obvious jokes. I think this would have worked well if it had been more subtle and didn't try so hard to be funny. If you want to watch a great movie with Cusack as an assassin watch Grosse Point Blank instead.

Disappointing. It tries to be funny. It is not. It tries to be satirical. It falls flat. It tries to be quirky. It lost me. It tries to be fresh. I guessed the plotline 1/3 way through. Sorry.

A fantastically brilliant piece of surreality which still resonates four years later despite its blatant socio-politico scenarios.

Did this glueless slapstick humour go anywhere? I'd got porblem to tolerate it till the end... All points for a good choreographed John Cusack fighting scene somewhere in the middle of the movie.

Meh. I like John Cusack and I like satire but this just didn't do it for me. Satire doesn't have to be funny but this was obviously trying to be and I only laughed twice. It gets props for being relevant, by showcasing the corporatization of things, mainly war. The plot was really predictable in a lot of ways, though. Didn't really keep me into it like it should have. The action scenes weren't too bad and they had some pretty nice choreography. It needed to try harder.

A political satire with hit-or-miss in an enjoyable enough mess; should have been more subtle at times to do the good premise better justice. *Preview*: #12#, exp-2*, story, cast, R3.

a political satire with a feel-good ending, who would have thought of that? the movie has a good first 30 min and last 30 min, but the middle is dry and uneventful. it has very little humor actually, but always has a manner of light-heartedness. it would have been much better if the weird satirical wackiness was more prevailant.

It's an odd movie, not the wow weird type, more of the what kind of film is it supposed to be type. It's like at times they want you to take everything serious, and then they throw humour/satire all over the place. I personally usually like this, but it doesn't seem to work with this material. Good flick overall though.

Tomei playing it almost-straight was good but, rather than the IDIOCRACY (or perhaps -a few scripts ago- attempt at STRANGELOVE) about modern warfare I guess they were after, it's a barely-watchable clash of THE THICK OF IT style satire and AIRPLANE! spoofing. Aykroyds brief but awful Nielsen thing being particularly poorly judged.

The problem I think that most disgruntled (re)viewers of this film have is that in order to laugh at satire you have to understand well, that what it's poking fun at. For example if you don't understand exactly how modern (corporate) politics, modern war profiteering, influenced journalism and manipulative reporting work then how can one expect to laugh at these issues? The reviews of several other users seem to agree on this. Whatever the case I personally got many good laughs out of this film.

This movie is so ridiculous. Reminds me of the plotline for Metal Gear Solid 4, so the "too little too late" thing doesn't bother me.

I love the IDEA of this... with smart writing and some real, competent directing, this could have been such a kick-ass satire, Unfortunately... at least John Cusack emerges semi-unscathed from the onslaught of pandering and idiocy.

War, inc. is a mess. The action scenes are decent but the film never commits to being an action thriller; instead it constantly attempts to forcibly inject humour which fall flat more often then it should. The satire allows for some great dialogue, but it gets lost in a sea of filler, bad accents and out-dated references. The plot progresses predictably at best, and nonsensically otherwise. Both Cusacks are decent, Tomei is good, but Duff is painful to watch.

A wonderfully intelligent combination of political satire and social commentary. There's violence, action, comedy, and drama all rolled into one, with a pretty easy to follow yet predictable plot line. People who don't like it, just don't get and/or are republicans/sheep.

This actually has a few really good dramatic scenes, it's a shame its surrounded by completely humourless comedy. and bludgoning "satire". Btw, when is this supposed to be set? Half the references are contemporary which makes NO sense

Is it a very good parody? No. Am I a sucker for cheesy critics of american imperialism and morally bankrupt John Cusack? Absolutely. It’s like a mix of The Dictator and Grosse Point Blank

What the FUCK is this film about? God dammit who gave John Cusack a typewriter? Hilary Duff plays a character called "Yonica Babyyeah" for fucks sake. There's even a scene where John walks into a fast food joint and everyone starts yelling at eachother while standing still and then they all jog into the freezer. God dammit. Fuck everything to do with this ridiculous failure of a "political satire" that rapes the Grosse Pointe Blank universe. No.2 on my "Films I wish I could un-see" list.

This movie has many similarities with Grosse Point Blank. Although this movie is inferior it still has a lot of enjoyable moments and laughs. The Cusacks, Tomei and Duff are all great in their roles. Overall this is a good satire.
