Set in the Midwest against a backdrop involving a killing spree thought to be orchestrated by a satanic cult. Three best friends embark on a road trip to a heavy-metal show, where they bond with three aspiring musicians and head off to one of the girls' country home for an afterparty. A night of fun and youthful debauchery takes a deadly turn as bodies begin to pile up, with each side thinking the other hides the killer. (imdb)

If there's anything good to be said about this movie, it's "alexandra daddario has tits".

The Heavy metal parking lot beginning part was fun, but just when things are supposed to get interesting the films hollowness and lack of ideas makes the film get stuck coasting until the ending. In the finale the film has no sense of escalation of stakes or invention, so the suprisingly high death toll doesn't mean anything. I think this film would have been a dud even if it tried to go for a straightforward satanic slasher film, let alone now trying to subvert your expectations.

The way it starts out is pretty cool, but after the action gets going, it feels like it's just stuck trying to decide what will happen next. Liked that it was set in the 80's, but that's about it.

Although the plot does take alot of twists & turns, there are 2 big problems here: 1. we see alot of the surprises coming & so there's little surprise 2. we aren't given any reason to care about these characters , so there's little suspense. I kept imagining how deeply invested someone like Tarantino would make us in the metalheads. There's also a way to make Christian zealots scary but this ain't it: their whole plan - especially killing at home - is implausibly stupid. At least Daddario's hot

Maddie Hasson's reaction shots and line deliveries in this movie are from another planet. a much, much sexier planet.

Of course this was written by the hacky chump behind BURYING THE EX. At least a good director didn't get roped in this time. The inherent inferiority of modern filmmaking technology and the tireless efforts of corporate-sponsored culture cops have made it highly unlikely that crud like this will ever be effective, amusing, or surprising again anyway. But Maddie Hasson is indeed pretty good.

This feels like one of those movies that was made so someone didn't lose their SAG membership.
