Weary River

The story is also a bit too blue eyed. It takes a dangerous gangster and reforms him into a crooning weakling singing a terrible song, Weary River, countless times! For the period the dialogue experiments were okay most of the time, but it's still the age of corny scripts. Thankfully Richard Barthelmess & Betty Compson deliver some strong acting, both in the silent and sound portions, for it's their performances that saves this, while Weary River the song nearly kills Weary River the movie.
