O David Hare meio que ganhou notoriedade sendo roteirista de filmes bem famosos do Stephen Daldry, mas aqui ele dirige um drama interessante que embora muita gente reclame da fragmentação, particularmente a vejo como uma qualidade a mais na narrativa. I could say it's about the longing for connection, but really it's about sex. And about how a surface of sophistication won't make this physical (or in the way it's portrayed here even spiritual) urge go away. The whole thing is just a tad too elaborate.

The fragmented storytelling felt more disjointed than intriguing. The whole thing felt a bit dry and depressing.

A finely made piece of British drama, very well shot and its slipping back and forth with chronology reveals details in a fairly tantalising manner. The ending feels like a bit of a let-down after all the intrigue the film promises, feeling a bit too much like connect the dots rather than offering us anything we hadn't already guessed might be the case. Still for much of its runtime it is an appealing piece of film-making.
