What Is It?

Endlessly quotable dialogue: "You're not Michael Jackson! I'm Michael Jackson!" Outrageously accurate character descriptions: "Outer Sanctum mocking tormentor and walkie-talkie grabbing woman that cries later." And, a calming reassurance from our director who is required by law to wear a sticker on his chest that says 'may contain nuts': "This film has not advocated the assassination of Steven Spielberg in any way." That's good to know, Mr. Glover. That's good to know.

It's hard to say what this is exactly (or approximately) supposed to be about, but I'm sure it's a device that breaks and bends taboos, with respect for controversial, pretentious, shallow art. Features cool and weird music.

How do I get in?

My entire body is sore after watching this, and not in a good way

Indescribably bizarre. By any account (including Glover's own), a relentless affront to good taste or political correctness. It has a nightmare logic and off-the-wall sense of humor (a man in blackface deadpanning the lyrics to Michael Jackson's "Beat It," for example) that make it captivating even in its most grotesque moments (Steven Stewart getting a handie while lying in a giant clamshell). The Q&A afterwards was illuminating, but not necessary to appreciate this film's weird spell.

Extremely hard to watch, but worth it. Really makes you question right and wrong, good and evil and sticks with you. Understandable that Glover doesn't want this on home video...The discussion helped put things more into perspective.
