A few very touching scenes elevate this a great deal. The period settings were well done. Mostly good writing and production quality. Good acting all around. The pacing was a bit slow, it was overly long, and there are a few too many blank stares. Abbie Cornish was very good. Amandla Stenberg and George MacKay were satisfying. The story is a bit raw, not very brutal, and perhaps a bit tame for a Nazi concentration camp movie. Worth watching.

Diet version of Schindler’s List. An okay film until the end which comes and ruins any delicate good will the viewer has towards it. We are presented with abysmally moronic Jesusfying of America by the big finale. Yeah. We get it. America helped defeating the Nazis. AT THE LAST MOMENTS OF THE WAR. Essentially America walks into a ready laid out buffet with one spoon in hand and congratulates itself for setting the whole table. And this film jerks off to that narrative.
