Chock full of southern redneck stereotypes, with retarded names all said with a straight face. I feel like it tried to be a feel-good story, but when your message is that uneducated, poor people who make bad choices and with little regard for the law can simply rely on the good will of others to fix their problems, then you strike a nerve of ill will in me. But Natalie Portman...you know, she's hot, 'n stuff.

I saw it on a plane once, and wish I'd brought my parachute so I could walk out. These have to be the worst character names I've ever heard. Novalee Nation? Willie Jack? Lexie Coop? Forney Hall? Sister Husband???? I'm actually crying from laughter, and I haven't even mentioned the Wal-Mart baby.

All the situations are cliche, trite, and predictable. All the dialog is stupid, poorly delivered, and ditzy. The story-line is irrelevant and really drawn out. It's like a film a bunch of cheerleaders would have written, directed, and stared.

A movie about poor decisions, both by the characters and the actors involved. Painfully contrived and bad.

Cliche plot, lots of free advertising for walmart, and a tornado. Definitely three things that every movie needs.

Right. As if "Wall-Mart Baby" wouldn't have been a better title. The winner here is Ashley, who looks great in white trash & is a kick to boot. The loser is, well, the empty headed script which continues to follow the x-boyfriend when we could really care less about getting even, & Natalie who is rather uninteresting.

This movie is so bad it hurts. The character names are ridiculous, the acting is terrible and my god is it dumb. Most of the dialog is totally unbelievable especially when Ashley Judd says to Natalie Portman "Honey, look at us, we can't have the pick of the litter." Yeah, it's really believable when one incredibly hot chick says to another that they can't have any good guys. Nice job, Hollywood.

Cute heartwarming story about a poor girl dumped at a Walmart pregnant. She lives at the Walmart for a few weeks before giving birth to her child. Then a woman with a kind heart takes her in and they become a family. A sweet and tender story. Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd are great as is Stockard Channing. A warm story with a great message.

Not overly believable or well written, but Natalie Portman is incredible.

The worst possible mixture of formulaic predictability and illogical, arbitrary behavior.

I don’t know where to start.. It’s mindblowingly nonsensical with very uncomfortable-making and honestly pretty disgusting christian/jehova suppressed sexual undertones. Almost The Room-level bad, so a must see for fans of cinematic lunacy made by the severely untalented. Will probably rewatch in the future because it was too much for my logical, sober mind to handle at times.

The movie is all right, but it doesn't capture the heartbreaking feeling of Novalee. However, compared to most book-to-movie deals, this one kept a lot of it's life. A great book, a good movie. Read the book first.

Caught this thing on TV, late at night, a few years ago and it stuck with me. Considering it's very unpretentious, I found it to be quite enjoyable. Then again I do love Natalie Portman, so I might be a bit lenient here.

Not the best acting considering. However the story is a good one. I thought it was just a tv movie on lifetime.

objectively speaking, there is absolutely no reason for me to like this film. it's so corny, so hollywood, with a predictable storyline oozing with cheese and "small-town charm" and cheesy dialogue. but damn it, there is just something so sweet about it - in no small part because of natalie portman's casting. that woman can do no wrong. it's just an easy watch, and it's so feminine and light and warm, it's comforting to watch from under a blanket on a rainy night.

Cute movie, developed from the book with the same title. In High School I watched the movie instead of the book. Entertaining movie, Portman carries the movie. If you're a fan of hers you can make it through the movie, it's no Closer though
