A provocative film about interconnected lives that are shattered by ill-fated acts of deception and ambition. Shifting effortlessly between mob-run clubs of the mid-50's and glamorous Hollywood Hills mansions of 1972, the film explores the dark, beguiling, and inevitably destructive side of fame and fortune. The result is a tense and atmospheric mystery that uses cinematic sleight-of-hand to challenge any preconceptions about "truth." (Serendipity Point Films)

Great movie. It's a mystery, but has far more depth than that. Shouldn't have been considered as controversial as it was. Also, Kevin Bacon & Colin Firth are both great in it.

The worst Egoyan movie I've seen so far!

It didn't seem to have much of Egoyan's touch that I've come to expect. Maggot Brain was out of place.

Sleazy soap-opera antics from a good cast, some who stay on the more conservative side of camp (Colin Firth) and some who just never even considered that there are sides to camp and went fuckin wild (Bacon). Alison Lohman is excellent but it's the weird tension between the two male leads that really helps build the film beyond a simple crime thriller and into uncomfortably-erotic-crime-thriller.

A well-done little movie, warped in only the way Atom Egoyan knows how to warp them

Too schlocky and in love with itself to be anywhere near 'good', but I have to admit that Bacon and Firth in scummy sleazeball-mode were worth the price of admission.

One of the better neo-noirs. Atmospheric and bafflingly underrated.

Lacks a satisfying "who" for its "whodunit" formula...

Good looking and well acted, but muddled and not all that interesting.
