Even the tremendous talent of Naomi Ackie cannot shoulder insipid cinematography and tedious script. In a few years time, I probably won’t be able to remember which spousal argument scene, substance abuse scene, arguing with family and crew scene, bible belting, getting cheated and cheating is from Aretha’s biopic and which one is from Whitney.
