[through season 1] I'm mystified by the reviews here. This is a mean-spirited structureless mess. It feels like they thought they'd get more revealing stuff out of the interviews, but didn't, but created the contractually obligated number of episodes anyway. Half the time it's just people not being contradictory out of politeness because they think they're talking to someone through a language barrier. It reveals nothing, and it's rarely funny outside of a small handful of hilarious moments.

I've never watched Cohen's other stuff but this is pretty great. Makes perfect sense that Nathan Fielder directs a couple of episodes

I'm rating the highs of the first two episodes, which are really extraordinary

Baron still has the ability to amuse and shock but I found the series a bit repetitive with a few shining moments. There was a bit to much pushing of an agenda with the politics and I found the non political clips funniest.

Some absolutely fantastic moments elevate a very crude return for Sacha Baron Cohen.

As in his first show, there are characters I find much funnier than others. The Italian guy offers few laughs and the Israeli gun instructor tends to run too long even though he gets some right wing extremists to do some pretty outrageous stuff. If I were him I'd be worried about someone wanting revenge. However, the diehard Trump conspiracy theorist is hilarious, and the best (& most cathartic) is the lefty extremist with the ultra-partisan NPR t-shirt who Cohen captures perfectly.

Not unlike sleazy tabloid journalism, the tangible uncomfort present in Cohen's pranks is often not as revealing as it is exploitative. It's a fine line to tread with this type of comedy but (as with Borat) I get a feeling of smug desperation from this which makes it hard for me to laugh at the mostly very easy targets. There are some hilarious moments that genuinely put the interviewees in an interesting spot but Cohen seems to always prefer a complete farce, reaching low in terms of satire.

After Sacha was under the radar for a number of years, he comes back with this glorious comedy and invents a slew of new characters who are each individually hilarious. This show has given us loads of hilarious skits ranging from the time he tries to sell building a Mosque to some Kingsman crowd to his illegal immigration "baiting." Sacha is great at making these people look like fools and provoking them to say some incredibly stupid shit. Not as provocative as Borat, but arguably more funny.

I thought this was a cool idea when I heard about it, but the end result is somewhat lackluster unfortunately. Some of the characters are too ridiculous and not believable, and I think Sacha could have gone further to get people in this country to say things they would regret on TV. There were a few impressive moments, but not enough. A lot of it was just stupid.

It's a comedy show but often tells more truths than most news channels. Thankfully, most people are not like those in the show but they are vocal.

Uneven. Many times too much. Other times Sacha Cohen top class!

Who is this for? Who commissioned this shite? Who replaced Sacha Baron Cohen with a humourless lookalike? This is astonishing in the lack of quality compared to his other output - Ali G In Da House being the exception

What has been described as a mean streak seems to me Cohen keeping up with the craziness of the times (okay the ex-con character is kind of a drag). He's as agile in the moment as ever. The mosque bit. Man. The way he jumps on and drags out "this town's lucky to have black people in it"; that one furious and oddly articulate "Arizonite". Arpaio, Cheney, Spencer, rap battle, Women's March bombing, and Roy Moore segments also excellent. Highlights the scariest thing about Matt Gaetz: he's smart.
