Entertaining but much too superficial tour through the history of 'black' comedy; opening commentary rightly touting this brand of comedy as reflective of its times writes a cheque that the movie can't live up to; unfortunately the talking heads comments never really progress beyond the glib or adulatory. Some well chosen clips of Pryor, Murphy, Rock etc. as well as some fascinating early archival footage hold your attention, but this really should have been a 45 minute TV spot.
