Wild Card is a disappointing movie that likely won't satisfy the rush that most Statham fans are going to want. It's light on the action, high on the self-brooding -- and Statham is only strong at the former of those. The plot isn't handled well, either through poor direction or a lackluster script -- the latter of which would be odd, given that this is writer William Goldman's third crack at this particular can. Wild Card isn't worth your time, although Stanley Tucci's cameo almost makes it so.

I saw this right after Mark Wahlberg's THE GAMBLER, so I am now officially tired of movies that dramatically depict people playing blackjack. This movie offers a whole lotta blackjack and a whole lotta not much else, save for one or two snazzy fight scenes and lots of sequences wherein Statham wanders around Las Vegas with a stupid look on his face. Borderline embarrassing. I miss Burt Reynolds.

A fun third act cannot make up for two flat acts that have severe tonal problems. Taking out the end credits it barely scrapes 86 minutes and about 10 minutes of that is worth watching. Only the most die hard Statham fans will enjoy this

I watched as a background movie while I did some menial work, bit too much Vegas exhibition and the gambling subplot was unexpected and a bit confusing, but otherwise it's the dumb Statham action/thriller that I wanted.

It's hard work coming up with variations of the same story to allow Jason Statham to keep making movies. This one is ok. The dialog is awful.

Overall, it was an alright watch. It doesn't have much in the way of substance I'd say, it has some nice shots of Vegas and its pretty watchable I suppose but I really didn't connect emotionally to most of the characters and I didn't feel especially interested/bothered/concerned about what any final outcome may be. An ok watch with some decent choreographed fight scenes but its nothing new really.

Seems like a barely watchable Statham romp until the second half is just batshit crazy in all the wrong ways.

Wild Card is a mess. Sloppy, terrible script and Statham phoning it in. He doesn't kick a lot of ass so don't go in expecting that... but when he does it's relatively entertaining, except the final fight which is pretty repetitive and unoriginal. I just ultimately didn't give a s hit at all about what was going on, the internal logic seemed off.

An undemanding, switch-off whilst watching, Statham action flick. Definitely unoffensive to Statham fans anyway.

Jason Statham always shows you a wild time in his action movies. This one was no exception. Sure, the plot is incredibly thin, but when has that stopped us from watching peoples faces get punched in? This movie had some great action though, I especially love now when they slow down the action so you can see each beer bottle smash over someone's head or each pool cue snap over someone's neck. It really adds a type of beauty to the brutal violence...

This movie was barely entertaining. Statham was miscast and the story was all over the place trying to figure out what kind of movie it wanted to be. The dialog was atrocious and the script stupid as hell. It has a lot of big or at least known names but alas they were all cameos and most of them not even good ones. With a better actor this could've been much better but then again with a better script and director it would been better too.

I would say this is a slighter better than average Statham flick, so if you like em give'r and if you don't then don't bother.

I don't think I can call this thing BAD. Just WILDLY inconsistent, if you'll forgive the pun. The weird tonal shifts I think will turn a lot of people off but I've seen less-interesting movies than this, and less-interesting takes on things like gambling addiction and being afraid of the world. But I will say this about Wild Card -- I was actually fairly bored for most of it. Even the fight scenes which I fear substitute slow-motion for ingenuity. You'll see worse this year but this isn't great.

Based on a novel and yet the story is awful. The initial arc of revenge is satiated too early. It goes on this weird blackjack detour at the ~60 minute mark and stays with it too long until it pumps in two okay fight scenes near the end. It also has a couple of weird flashback/PTSD scenes that it never explains. Michael Angarano's character is awful. You might be wondering if this is worth it for the 2.5 fight scenes and the answer is no.

If you took three Jason Statham movies, removed most of the action and edited them together haphazardly, you would still get a better finished product than Wild Card, a slog of a movie that is missing action at every turn.

Some good action scenes, and Statham is always cool. Great for watching with high fever as I could dose out on some middle parts and not have to worry about the story.

This movie is fun in a mindless don't think to much sort of way. The script is straightforward and there are a few fun action scenes with Jason Statham. The film revolves around Statham's character, so you will only like this film if you like his character.

Thought i would hate it but apparently i like statham enough that he can elevate a slow burn amateur noir into something watchable for me.

Your violence served with knife & spoon! I'll say I enjoyed it. Had enough cool bits in there for that. The developing friendship with the wimp was too convenient and underwritten, but otherwise Wild Card (2015) had a melancholy macho-ism sizzling with Jason Statham all burned out on Vegas life.

Statham is simply Statham as we know him from all his films. My opinion here : http://opinion-as-a-moviefreak.blogspot.be/2015/08/wild-card-2015.html
