This film is the only directorial effort from cinematographer Gordon Willis, and the film looks utterly gorgeous. That and it's Ennio Morricone score are what it has going for it. It's also an unbelievably slow film in which very little happens, and no real suspense is generated because you know who the villain is. When she's finally revealed to Shire, they talk for 20 minutes and the film's over.
