Extra points for an unusual plot and pairing. However, the chemistry wasn't quite right. Still, a compelling drama.

It's easy to see why this was a box office flop when it came out...it's a rather curious movie--talky, and not much actually happens--but I found it quite enjoyable. Bette Davis gives a very well-modulated performance--almost subtle (not a quality one normally associates with Miss Davis). The other Davis is a bit out of his depth--he's serviceable, but not particularly good. I'm a Bette Davis fan, and I had never heard of this movie before it popped up on HBO Max...I'm quite glad it did.
