Wonderful World

There are a few pleasant moments, but I don't really buy Matthew Broderick as a misanthrope.

I'm not really sure what Wonderful World wanted to be. The film displays many of the tropes of a RomCom, but is too down-tempo to really fit the genre. I liked Broderick in it, but his character goes from misanthrope to pitiable to toilet-for-the-universe. Essentially the film is about him finding a sense of peace and purpose, but the ending almost undermines the journey he took to get there, making the 3rd act a let-down. The best bits are Broderick's scene with the judge.
