Wreckers

literally a film about nothing. just a bunch of people who don't actually have any problems standing around giving each other brooding looks. the relationships and conflicts are so artificially created that they force the performances to read as awkward and embarrassing. there is no story here - just a backstory that we never fully understand forcefully stuffed into every line of dialogue. the film is so busy trying to fill us in on the backstory that it forgets to tell us a story now.

Horrible people do horrible things to each other in horrible countryside. Grim family drama about rural living, mixed visuals but good performances.

A real mess. Some intriguing material to work with, but Hood doesn't go anywhere interesting with it.

Hood has an interesting elliptical style but it becomes wearing after a while, an endless series of vignettes without ever getting into the meat of a scene. It is also tonally jarring, going from moody landscape shots to fraught confrontations without any time to build or breathe.

A group of messed up people bring out the worst in each other. The performances are quite convincing but the whole thing lacks any purpose.
