Struggling songwriter Kit has seen better days, especially now that his relationship with star singer Tracy has fallen apart. Broke, he moves into a rundown tenement above Min, an incredibly perky young girl who is determined to get Kit out of his shell and won't take no for an answer. Terminal illness melodramas, as I call them, is very popular sub-genre in Asia. Most of them are plain unwatchable, but director Tung-Shing Yee with the help of good acting from the whole cast manages to make this one stand out from the crowd. For one thing the soundtrack is filled with Chinese classic opera instead of pop ballads. The film is emotionally heavy and towards the end gets a bit manipulative and contrived. A tearjerker that teaches to love life.
