Boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy maybe wins her back... This musical comedy follows Natalie as she sorts out her thoughts on love, sex and communication with her boyfriend Matt, her best friend Christian (Nico Izambard), and ultimately herself. Inspired by the sensibilities of Ernst Lubitsch's landmark musicals of the 30's, where the songs never upstage the film, but are instead an integrated part of the character's lives. "yellow" features seven-and-a-half original songs written by Schopmey (imdb)

So many films that will just never get the audiences they deserve. I liked La La Land but this is a much more creative and impressive film. Honest film making.

Why was there so many movies called yellow in 2006? Like Lillian and Dan this movie leaves me wondering how it's virtually unseen and unreleased, I just watched it on the directors Youtube page. Thnx once again to JakeA for putting this on my radar.

Dangerously close to being a feature-length Theory of Achievement (and about as irrepressibly great as that sounds), with a bit more Tsai-style austere minimalism and Christophe Honore's Demy/Lubitsch musical homage thrown in, with remarkable conviction toward both (the songs surprisingly going all-out Sondheim-style showtunes where twee indie pop would have surely gained the film a bigger festival audience). Formally rigorous yet completely charming at the same time. Color me very impressed.
