Yellowbeard

I don't get the apathy about this movie. Mel Brooks' people, Monty Python people, and Cheech & Chong are all together, and this movie is funny as hell. It made pirating cool decades before these new Disney movies. I loved this when I was a kid and I still think it's hilarious.

Wonderful cast, but a complete lack of a plot makes the movie watchable only as heckle-fodder.

Well to be honest it's just plain silly.

One of the best comedies ever made.

"You think? You'll never kill anyone if you go around thinkin'." Such an awkwardly unfunny movie, despite all the talent involved. A sense of humor similar to Tom Jones takes a lot from the movie. The brilliant actors try to keep things rolling along with their performances, but the incoherent and bare-bones script lies in the way. Unfortunately, you can find more circumstances to giggle at in any average drama compared to Yellowbeard.

Not funny

Yellowbeard is moderately amusing, but never quite reaches the highs of a full Monty (Python) despite drinking heavily from the silliness well. Feldman & Cook are the only actors who delighted in their every appearance, with bulging eyes & a vacant daftness respectively. The comedic bits work to varying degrees, but so many comedians together at once aren't all given enough time to shine. The direction isn't particularly inspired but the lowish budget look has a certain charm to it.

One might tend to think that a bunch of British comedians would enhance a movie's potential - unfortunately not so with this one.

Goes back and fourth from being funny and entertaining to boring and silly.

Stagger....stagger...crawl, crawl, crawl.....a bizarre movie with some funny moments a la Top Secret! or any Monty Python movie (and has the added benefit of starring an ex-Python).

Poor.

It has several good jokes, but otherwise you'd expect a lot more from the people involved.

I think they made it all up as they went along, a lot of great comic actors are given one-joke characters, and most of those jokes are about rape.
