Young Thugs: Nostalgia

Miike combines some remarkable sensitivity (especially for him) with a much played-down form of the juvenile antics the first movie displayed. One of his best.

Aside from some awkward humor, this was a well-acted and well-directed coming of age story that I could really relate to.

The opening scenes of the film were funny and filled with good vibes and great music, after that I knew what awaited me and I was not disappointed. It didn't go without typical Miike-ish situations during the whole movie, but they were not clichéd and added by force - on the contrary, they added some charm. The kids' acting seemed natural. The dialogues were interesting and the part around building Apollo was fantastic. Touching coming-of-age comedy drama with perfect soundtrack.
