This one went right for the heart strings and tugged and pulled away to where I could barely take it. Is this great filmmaking or just a REALLY compelling story that was impossible to screw up? Hard to say. But the story IS irresistible and Walker does a fine job balancing humor and grief. I found this movie quite inspiring as the, "I am just one person. I've led a great life. If I go, the show must go on" theme really clicked with me. You don't pity these people, you are INSPIRED by them.

The other side of the spectrum from Don Argott's documentary "Rock School." This time around director Walker spotlights the Young at Heart Chorus, an eclectic nursing home choir that specializes in classic and indie rock. They run through staples by the Clash, the Bee Gees, and David Bowie, while struggling to learn Sonic Youth's "Schizophrenia" and James Brown's "I Feel Good."

It's a pretty crappy documentary but the songs are so good and the choir members so charming that it works anyway.

Inspiring, sad, funny, moving, devastating...I was an emotional wreck after this one, but it was good. " I feel nice. Sugar and rice." "The Crash." haha.

A deeply moving documentary that makes you laugh, cry and ultimately uplifts. There are even a few interesting music video-like interludes. Dylan's "Forever Young" and Coldplay's "Fix You" will never be the same for me again.

A beautiful, touching, hilarious documentary which is only held back slight by the pompous, rude narrator and his condescension.

The awful title is a good indicator of the director's trite perspective on his subjects. The content manages to rise above him, with a lot of really fun moments and some sad and touching ones. Everyone seems well aware of how ridiculous the whole thing is, yet all these old people are genuinely having fun and enjoying life rather than waiting to die, and that zest is infectious.

When your not smiling and laughing, you're crying. Young @ Heart is a rare treat that doesn't come around often. A feel good movie that actually makes you feel good after it's over. These people you are watching cast such an impression on you, you can't walk out of the theater without vowing to never take life for granted and enjoy every single moment of it.

A good proof that 90% of a success for a documentary is the choice of topic. There's nothing great about this film, but the whole idea of people over 80 singing rock songs is hillarious, with most of the lyrics take a whole new meaning in the new context ('Should I stay or should I go', 'Stayin' alive', 'Yes we can can'...). Also, it is enough to leave the life to write a script dramatic enough.

Definitely cute, but it sort of gets old after a bit.

"A choir full of (very) old people get down with the rock music. Sweet, funny, touching stuff."

"Young@Heart's worst enemy is its director, Stephen Walker, whose incessant pushing and prodding strives to manipulate in ways both needless and trite." - Nick Schager

A touching film that documents the lives and journeys of the Young@Heart chorus, a chorus whose average age is 80. Singing songs from "I wanna be sedated" to "I feel good", you can't help but cheer them on.

Ugh, I wanted to hear more of their song choices, Netflix the SHIT out of this. If you want to see a chorus of 80 + year olds belt out Dancing in the Dark to a prison audience that breaks into a standing ovation look no further.
