Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City

Utterly, joyously, deliberately, enthusiastically, incredibly, awesomely, gleefully, delightfully insane.

A delirious hodgepodge of superhero tropes, shitty music videos and social commentary put together with a looney editing technique that looks easier than it actually is. There's a self-referential perversity to it all that's, just, wonderful.

Zebraman 2 is not just a sequel to a superhero movie, it's (at least) three sequels in one and offers more bang for your buck than that huge lady down the street who lets you do all kinds of dirty stuff for small change. It features superhero staples like a dystopian society that warps what the hero stands for, time travel, amnesia, evil twins and it even winks at superhero reboots. This movie also literally made me think "Oh shit, it's Zebra Time!" and I'm still grinning about that.
