To cast away everything, surrendering yourself to the flow of nature and just sitting in meditation. This is the essence of Dogen's Zen Buddhism. In the 13th century, Dogen, a young Japanese monk traveled to China to find his true master. There he found a monk who taught him that sitting in Zen meditation is the true and only path to enlightenment. Returning to Japan, Dogen risked his life to pioneer Zen Buddhism, inspiring millions of Zen Buddhists who practice around the world today. (asianmediawiki.com)

Pensive, atmospheric portrait of the philosophical underpinnings of Zen Buddhism requires a certain degree of patience for its snail's pacing, but grows more richly rewarding as it progresses presenting a convincing argument for the practical value of Buddhist philosophy in every day life, as well as telling a fascinating story of the splintering away of Zen Buddhism (with more than a few parallels to Christian tribulations). A satisfying and invigorating experience.

Get rid of the silly scenes (especially the ending), there's no need for them. While it does create a peaceful mood, it lacks interest.
