Zeroville

Franco's game stab at a tribute to 70s independent cinema will frustrate those wanting to find a coherent plot - but this has some rewards as an evocative, sensory experience with some interesting casting choices (Ferrell, Rogen, Weaver) propping up the gentle "back stage" satire; falters in the third act when focus shifts to the romance between Franco and Fox, when some tighter (and clearer) plotting would have helped. Warts and all, a worthwhile time (especially for fans of the era).
