As only the second horror film to be made in Pakistan - and the first to be granted an adults only X certificate - K H Sarfraz's Zinda Laash or The Living Corpse presents a fascinating take on the vampire myth and, in particular, Hammer films' 1958 Dracula (AKA Horror of Dracula).

Pakistani Dracula with magnificently undeniable 60s flair. It treads the camp line rather adroitly, maintaining a real sense of malice even as it gives us a 60s soundtrack and some entertaining dance scenes. It's still far from perfect. Even though the plotting is coherent the pacing has some issues and the acting is decent but nothing special. Visually it lacks a little magic but it's quite good a crafting an atmosphere of dread when it needs to, both with long shots and close ups.

It's Dracula. The 50's one. In Pakistan. With more dance sequences. Decent acting and atmosphere but the narrative is both slow and thin. Scores some novelty points for combining western horror with lollywood.
