Zvezda

Halfway decent war film, well paced and very well shot, about a Red army reconnaissance unit sneaking g around behind enemy lines. A few tense suspense set pieces keep things interesting until the end comes in a hail of bullets and cliches.

An interesting view of World War II, told from the Russian perspective- certainly something that we don't often get in the West. Falls into some of the common war movie tropes- the presence of the green recruit, the love interest back on friendly lines, and the like- but all of that is made up for by the fact that we're provided an engaging glimpse into the exploits of a Russian reconnaissance unit operating behind enemy lines.
