Re: Islamic Terrorism in Film

I seriously think you have no idea what western governments are doing to the rest of the world. Sorry but are you serious? The 5 of top 6 weapon exporters are UN Security Council members. And the other one is Germany. (None of them are muslim countries btw as if the muslim world doesn't need to be ...

Re: Islamic Terrorism in Film

I think that kind of answers the question. The political conditions that gave rise to violent extremist groups in the Middle East are extremely complicated, and in the West, the discourse around it is both over-simplified and surrounded by a shit ton of Racist misconceptions. White Hollywood film-m...

Islamic Terrorism in Film

I just came back from watching Hotel Mumbai and I found the reception a bit awkward. It's a bit unfortunate that the film came out a few weeks after the Christchurch shooting, but the assertion that the film is "Islamophobic" and "ethically wrong" is eyebrow-raising, to say the l...

Re: Games from Newgrounds(and other flash games)

Considering we have shit like "Depression Quest" and "Ethnic Cleansing" on this site, I don't think quality control is something that matters insofar as additions go. I know of plenty of flash games that are far more technically polished than that garbage. Who says we can't...

Re: Criticker board games

I didn't drop out because you criticized my argument. What practical result do you think can come from this conversation? They aren't going to separate board games from video games. If they were considering it, I'd continue the discussion as it might actually impact their decision. They aren't, so ...

Re: Games from Newgrounds(and other flash games)

Nah, that'd be like having no filter at all. Most flash game sites are clones of each other. Any new flash game gets instantly mirrored to hundred other sites, regardless of how popular the game is. That's irrelevant when you can just google "Pico's School" and you'll instantly get Pico's...

Re: Games from Newgrounds(and other flash games)

Why not, like, just google. lmao. It's not hard to tell if a flash game is legitimate or not since the overwhelming majority of them are featured on various host websites, most notably Newgrounds.

Different Versions of the Same Game

One of the pet peeves I have with adding games onto Criticker is that the mods seem to take issue with me separating handheld versions of the exact same title, even if they're completely different games. I've just put out Tarzan on the GBC to be added to the site, but I get the sense it's going to g...

Re: (very) old movies

I think you should be careful with how you give praise to the industry of the past because films were still a product. While it is true that films had become more "flashy," it'd be disingenuous to say that the industry at the time wasn't concerned with profit or marketability. It's why Hol...
