Re: Leaving the key under the doormat/plant

Poor confused guy would have gotten wallopped in my house. I once kicked open every door in my house with a frying pan in one hand and a knife in the other because I was drunk and the Frankie Muniz movie Stay Alive spooked me.

Re: Leaving the key under the doormat/plant

This is totally unheard of in my neck of the woods, and I'm mildly surprised to read that it's actually still a thing. However, my own personal level of concern for locking my door is low because I have large dogs.

Re: On what basis do you rate films ?

Gut reaction to how much i liked it, deciding on a score before i see a psi most times (i mostly use the database to track down work from actors/directors Im interested in and only look to psi if the synopsis doesn't immediately tell me if I'll like it or not, or if i think I'll like it but feel iff...

Re: Movies from the 30s worth watching (since most of us have seen so few)

The Thin Man series is a favorite of mine. Fun, light and with a style fast wit that's almost signature to the decade. The chemistry between Loy and Powell is phenomenal. I'll throw in for Island Of Lost Souls as well for being grim and shadowy, for having Lugosi, and Laughton is just...well damn I ...

I'll subtly miss being able to quickly and easily read morons telling me how every movie ever is shitty.

Re: Summary of 2016 viewing

I'm so curious why your number of films watched is dwindling! It gives me anxiety to think what if next year I don't see as many, or significantly less, films as this year! But I obsessively consume, often overlooking quality. Perhaps you're more actively hunting for masterpieces? Or has life become...

This vaguely sounds like Witness for the Prosecution, but not enough for me to make that suggestion with confidence.

You certainly have a way of cutting straight to the heart of a film in a minimum of words.

Re: Check your library's website, some are offering free streaming services

My library+hoopla has a vastly superior filn selection to Netflix for both new and old releases, that's for sure. Couple of caveats to this is that hoopla isn't HD and the number of titles you can borrow monthly is limited( my library used to be generous with 12; it's recently been reduced to 7). Ho...

Re: Share your wishlist

Oh boy 1600. My heart breaks for you. My feeble 350 or so gives me an odd anxiety every now and again...i can't imagine a list this massive. My own is mostly oddball obscure stuff or rarely talked about films from the directors/actors i like that i come across. The kind of movies that I'm afraid I'l...
