Most recent one that comes to mind is BoardingHouse

But I watch crap films and classics in just about equal measure, so I'm with RibCage on this one. About 20% of what I see is blissfully bad.

Re: How Movie Pass Works

OK - So I HAVE tried it for about a month and a half now. And I don't have enough good things to say about my experience. The deal is, they send a Credit Card that you then link to an app on your phone, that uses GPS/Location Services to make sure you are the one really using the card. Once you get ...

Re: NYT Top 25 of the 21st Century

Actually not a bad list - I can see the purpose behind each (whether I personally agree or not, they are well-reasoned). I've also only seen about half - of these, I do disagree with A Touch of Sin . Though again, I see their thought process. My quickie top 25 pulled from Criticker, sans shorts, and...

Some quick notes re: Wonder Woman (2017)

Trying my best to avoid the subject, after viewing last night, a discussion on the apparent feminism of Wonder Woman (2017) seems somehow appropriate, since the film seems to call attention to a desire to be so. While the film’s box office success is undeniable and popular acclaim is granted, I don’...

Sandy Wexler (2017)

After some baffling and conflicting media coverage on Adam Sandler's recent Sandy Wexler , I decided to take a stab at it and wasn't a) terribly disappointed I wasted my time on a film with no redeeming qualities and 2) terribly offended. It's nowhere near a masterpiece, to be sure: it's far too lon...

Re: Jack Nicholson

On Saturday, Jack Nicholson will turn 80. No actor has embodied a spirit of freedom, individuality, intelligence, romance, vulnerability, culture and charm in quite the way he did, both in art and in life, and in particular in the remarkable series of performances he gave between 1970 and 1975 Here...

Re: Leaving the key under the doormat/plant

I live in an apartment complex in Los Angeles and have literally stuck my key under the closed door, just visible to any one of my drunk friends coming home early from a party to find it (except for that one time he kicked it under, and he climbed into my window busting my bookshelf in the process)....

Re: On what basis do you rate films ?

I determined long ago that I come into every movie at 100. I want to like films (or any other created art, for that matter). This often leaves me pleasantly surprised, but also sometimes, deeply disappointed if a film fails in various ways. But this attitude has really helped my overall assessment o...
