Re: Notable missing directors

My old list is on the previous page so I'm not going to repost it, but here's those filmmakers from that list that I've seen films from in the last three years:

Howard Hawks (Seen the most from him, a total of 4, which run the gamut from great to terrible)
Robert Bresson (Two excellent films)
David Lean (The Bridge on the River Kwai was great. Still have yet to watch Lawrence of Arabia; its colossal running time makes it hard when you're always busy/not in the mood like I've been. Explains my recent ratings.)
John Huston
Robert Altman (Two films, both mediocre)
Krzysztof Kieslowski
Todd Haynes (Boring)
Alexander Payne (Mediocre)
Ming-liang Tsai

Trying to compile a new list would be overwhelming. There's just too many damn directors!

Re: Notable missing directors

Great idea for a thread, and relevant. In the last month I watched my first Weerasethakul, Ford, Renoir, and Kusturica, and before that knocked off Wyler, Kazan, Argento, and Carpenter. Despite that, as I looked through TSPDT's best directors lists, I realized it would probably be easier to list which directors I have seen rather than haven't, so here's a list of the filmmakers I haven't seen that I'm most looking forward to watching, which should still tell you about my interests:

Howard Hawks
Yasujiro Ozu
Robert Bresson
David Lean
Roberto Rossellini
John Huston
Satyajit Ray
Robert Altman
Bernardo Bertolucci
John Cassavetes
Pier Paolo Pasolini
Krzysztof Kieslowski
Chantal Akerman
Hayao Miyazaki
Agnès Varda
Todd Haynes
Alexander Payne
Powell & Pressburger
Aki Kaurismäki
Kon Ichikawa
Ming-liang Tsai
Anh Hung Tran
Atom Egoyan
