Re: Harry Potter movies -- do they get better than the first?

OP here--

I made it through the first 7 films. Here are my results:

Sorcerer's Stone: T3 (38)
Chamber of Secrets: T3 (40)
Prisoner of Azkaban: T3 (41)
Goblet of Fire: T4 (42)
Order of the Phoenix: T5 (60)
Half-Blood Prince: T1 (12)
Deathly Hallows Part 1: T1 (12)

Basically what happened is that even though I was unimpressed with the first three films, I saw good potential in the visual effects, cinematography, characters and plot elements which had been developed to that point. Though only slight, I did notice overall improvement in virtually all areas through the first three films. So I checked out the fourth, which I thought had an idiotic plot, but finally seeing Potter face to face with you-know-who (Ralph Fiennes is a excellent casting choice IMO) compensated for this somewhat.

Figuring the bulk of the mickey mouse kids stuff was behind me, I pressed on to the fifth, and was rewarded with the first memorable scene in the series -- wizard battle. The rest of the film was pretty decent, but the wizard battle at the end was impressive by the standards of the series.

And then I continued and was blown away by the awfulness of the 6th and 7th films. I struggled to stay awake. Particularly in the 7th, it was awful to have Bill Nighy and Brendan Gleeson knocked off in the opening minutes of the film -- and it isn't even shown how they die! They were the two strongest actors and I was hoping for some quality, and then they just get deleted from the plot without even being shown what happened... horrible. I will see the last one, as I'm hoping there will be at least one more memorable scene.

Overall I'm not sure whether I regret having watched this series or not. I'm kind of on the fence at this point; will have to wait and see if it finishes strong.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

On the one hand my PSI for Deathly Hallows part 2 is T8.
On the other hand my PSI for the other 7 films has been T6 yet only one of them came remotely close to a T6 score.
