That's about as bigoted as it gets draggin' that up from the early 70s. And even then it wasn't the whole story. I attended integrated concerts by Bob Dylan and Joan Baez in the early 60s in Atlanta which used to have regular KKK rallies downtown and on Stone Mountain--but they would never have sung such disgusting lyrics. They were the way the wind was blowing until Johnson got hold of the Plantation, giving race-baiters like Lester Maddox and Jesse Jackson the ammunition they needed to keep racial tensions as taut as a lynching rope. It's also maybe not so coincidental that cooler heads like JFK, RFK and MLK were all assassinated. It wasn't for nothing that Johnson appointed the Warren commission, which never investigated the most likely suspect who benefited the most from JFK's murder.
