Re: Top 10 highest-scoring actors (10 film minimum)

My top 10 is quite surprising to myself:

1. The Marx Brothers 8.60 (10)
2. Peter Lorre 8.40 (10)
3. Thomas Mitchell 8.30 (10)
4. Natalie Wood 8.30(10)
5. Anthony Quayle 8.25 (12)
6. Humphrey Bogart 8.22 (23)
7. Daryl Hannah 8.18 (11)
8. Mia Farrow 8.17 (18)
9. C. Aubrey Smith (Who???) 8.10 (10)
10. Marlene Dietrich 7.36 (11)

Conclusion: Actors with exactly ten or eleven films benefit. Actors with a lot of supporting roles in classics get an excellent score.

This is the result with a minimum of twenty films:

1. Humphrey Bogart 8.22 (23)
2. Scarlett Johansson 7.86 (28)
3. Ingrid Bergman 7.71 (21)
4. Cary Grant 7.36 (28)
5. James Stewart 7.29 (24)
6. Gene Hackman 7.19 (21)
7. Shirley MacLaine 7.00 (20)
8. Jack Lemmon 6.95 (21)
9. Sean Connery 6.89 (27)
10. Donald Sutherland 6.86 (22)
11. Fred Astaire 6.77 (22)
12. Al Pacino 6.75 (24)
13. Woody Allen 6.67 (39)
14. Mel Blanc 6.61 (33)
15. Louis de Funès 6.59 (22)
16. Robert De Niro 6.58 (31)
17. Dustin Hoffman 6.55 (22)
18. Gérard Depardieu 6.52 (23)
19. Nicole Kidman 6.47 (32)
20. Oliver Hardy 6.40 (43)

Now this is beginning to look like a best actor list!

Re: Top 10 highest-scoring actors (10 film minimum)

Putting together this list was quite an interesting exercise, as my top 10 list of actors with 10+ movies includes a surprising 3 actors who have acted more in supporting roles than leading roles in the movies in which I've seen them, including the top overall spot overall:

Top 10:
1. James Earl Jones 63.75 (12)
2. James Stewart 61.85 (27)
3. Ward Bond 59.62 (13)
4. Sean Connery 58.53 (17)
5. Cary Grant 57.73 (11)
6. John Wayne 56.05 (19)
7. Katharine Hepburn 55.42 (12)
8. Paul Newman 55.00 (11)
9. Henry Fonda 53.18 (11)
10. Joe Pesci 52.73 (11)

The bottom 5 surprised me even more, as it contains a number of actors who I actually like, but who are often in movies that I don't. I guess it is primarily due to the fact that I try to avoid watching 10 movies of actors that I don't actually like.

Bottom 5:
1. Chris Rock 22.00 (10)
2. Drew Barrymore 22.31 (13)
3. Jim Broadbent 22.92 (12)
4. Cameron Diaz 23.21 (14)
5. Keith David 23.33 (15)

Re: Top 10 highest-scoring actors (10 film minimum)

Claude Rains 84.83 (12 movies)
William Holden 84.14 (14 movies)
Walter Brennan 83.77 (13 movies)
Barbara Stanwyck 83.70 (10 movies)
Shelley Winters 83.30 (10 movies)
Cary Grant 83.08 (25 movies)
Joseph Cotten 82.67 (15 movies)
Ward Bond 81.88 (16 movies)
Karl Malden 81.58 (12 movies)
Orson Welles 81.46 (13 movies)

Interesting, list could be very different if I watched a few more movies from Bergman, Kurosawa etc, now I havent rated 10 movies from them yet and its a list entirely consisting of classic Hollywood actors.
