Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny

The film feels much cheaper and lower budget than the original and the way the story is told has a very Hollywood medieval fantasy feel to it. The film just feels more Scorpion King than Crouching Dragon. Donnie Yen does well with the action and is the most impressive of the fighters but he seems tired and uninterested during other scenes. Michelle Yeoh does well to being gravity and drama to the film and plays her character with a sense of melancholy. Jason Scott Lee isn't given much to do but it was fun seeing him in another movie. Most of the other actors were decent but they didn't stand out and their characters weren't fleshed out well. Natasha Liu Bordizzo did stand out but not in a good way. While her martial arts was capable and gave her character a believable feel her terrible acting destroyed all that and hurt the movie every time her character had a speaking part. The action is well choreographed and everything you'd expect from Yuen Woo-Ping, its just too bad the CGI wasn't up to par and some of the stunt doubles were a little too obvious. Decent as a straight to video/streaming film but not completely satisfying.
