Check it out. Pretty good. http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/explore/b ... index.html
And not knowing the ins and outs of frequent flying when you're not a frequent flyer doesn't necessarily mean you're stupid. But rather, not a frequent flyer.

It wasn't her ignorance, it was her knee-jerk reaction to anger without at least looking around first, like at the signs.

I feel like it was written, cast and directed by some top secret Hollywood software designed to maximise profits. Sponsors + Sponsors + Sponsors + unoffensive bland shitty plot + George Clooney + marketing (romcom) = Good reviews from critics (they eat that shit up) = award noms = $$$$$$$$$$

Ah yes, the evil profit factor. But wasn't his superficiality pretty much the point. His problem wasn't that he was a slave to profits, honorable profits are a good thing. But he was a slave to his superficiality, which included his complete detachment from others, even his liaisons. Then, ironically, he fell for one of his own kind, leaving him at the end with nothing but being off to chase an empty second million miles.

It's about superficiality and assigning value to pursuits which have none. He wouldn't know fulfillment if it slapped him in the face, or lower.

I'm half convinced the men who like this film were dragged along by their girlfriend/wives. They strapped themselves in for another boring romantic comedy but they got something a bit different. Not a lot of romance. Zero comedy. So they were left thinking... it's not that bad. Somehow this has metastasized into positive feelings for this film.

I don't think you can say zero comedy, but it is more subtle. Like him overhearing the young girls assessment that he was old, or his instructions to her about how to go through security, etc.

Ah so you're not on the Boyhood bandwagon either? It was an epic project, Stewball. Maybe you just don't appreciate art? ;)
I Hated it. The 12 year gimmick wore off after about 20 minutes... then I wanted a good movie. It never came.

So what's my problem? Do I have a split personality when it comes to movies? I appreciate art that deals with Truth, such as the price we pay for putting our egos on a pedestal, like with Clooney's pursuit of an empty life, as a warning for us all; while Boyhood was a failed experiment because in 12 years they couldn't find anything of substance--most likely because they didn't have a clue what they were looking for, except to chase after, as you characterized it so well, nothing but a (monumental) gimmick. Maybe if the kid had been a pig, the message of the lipstick would have been a little clearer.
