I know they've Hollywoodized it up some, but not enough to matter. The magnificent characters are composites, but so what, it happened that way. Now if they'd just have The Help II where it shows how we finally took steps to address the bigotry, and then overstepped.

There were some damned fine performances here. Emma Stone is as talented as she is drop-dead gorgeous, and if Viola Davis doesn't get a supporting Oscar for this (along with so much else she's done including the psychiatrist in It's Kind of a Funny Story) it'll be a crime. Octavia Spencer makes "character actor" into a compliment instead of a patronizing put down, and even Bryce Dallas Howard digs deep into history to elevate the 'Bitch' to a new level.

Yes it's a predominantly a female cast, but it's no chick flick by any stretch. It's a toss among my top 3 movies of the year so far.
