Many of these I would definitely consider among my favourite directors, and some are interesting that they are included. It will be interesting to see how list changes as I finish entering the 2000 or so more movies I have yet to enter.

Yep, list didn't really change at all. No one new on it, just a bit of a mix-up in the order because of my minor tweaks, and the fact that some of these guys with 4 films are one mediocre film away from falling off my list. If we went up to a 5 film minimum, which I'm seeing from some in this thread, we'd add Scorsese, Peter Jackson, Guy Ritchie, and David Fincher to the list.

Re: Top 5 Director Averages

I keep updating because I think it's interesting. I'm sorry I have so many posts in this thread.

10. Quentin Tarantino (8 films) 83.63
High film - Pulp Fiction (93)
Low film - Four Rooms (69)

9. Stanley Kubrick (6 films) 83.83
High film - Paths of Glory (91)

Low film - The People vs. Larry Flynt (72)

TIED 5. Darren Aronofsky (4 films) 84.25
High film - Black Swan (95) one of my top 10 films of all time
Low film - Pi (79)

NEW! 4. Wes Anderson (4 films) 84.75
High film - Moonrise Kingdom (91)
Low film - Fantastic Mr. Fox (79)

3. Hayao Miyazaki (7 films) 87
High film - Princess Mononoke (94) one of my top 10 films of all time
Low film - Ponyo (79)

Low film - Insomnia (76)

1. Sergio Leone (4 films) 88
High films - A Fistful of Dollars and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (92's)
Low film - My Name is Nobody (79)

I finally ranked Moonrise Kingdom, my 4th Wes Anderson film. That puts him eligible to make my list with a four film minimum, and he bumps off Peter Jackson, who is sitting lower than he should because I'm a huge fan of his Tolkien adaptations, and I haven't ranked the last Hobbit film yet (too soon since seeing it).

Re: Top 5 Director Averages

It's been at least 6 months. I can afford to do another update. Again, 4 film minimum.

10. Peter Jackson (6 films) 83.33
High film - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (95 - on my Top 10 list)
Low film - The Lovely Bones (65)

9. Quentin Tarantino (8 films) 83.5
High film - Pulp Fiction (93)
Low film - Four Rooms (69)

8. Coen Brothers (9 films) 83.67
High film - The Big Lebowski (90)
Low film - Burn After Reading (79)

7. Stanley Kubrick (6 films) 83.83
High film - Paths of Glory (91)
Low film - Eyes Wide Shut (73)

6. Danny Boyle (4 films) 84
High film - Trainspotting (89)
Low film - 28 Days Later (81)

TIED 5. Milos Forman (4 films) 84.25
High film - Amadeus (94 - on my Top 10 list)
Low film - The People vs. Larry Flynt (72)

TIED 5. Darren Aronofsky (4 films) 84.25
High film - Black Swan (95 - on my Top 10 list)
Low film - Pi (79)

TIED 3. Hayao Miyazaki (7 films) 87.57
High film - Princess Mononoke (94 - on my Top 10 list)
Low film - Ponyo (79)

TIED 3. Christopher Nolan (7 films) 87.57
High film - Inception (93)
Low film - Incomnia (76)

1. Sergio Leone (4 films) 88
High film - A Fistful of Dollars AND The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (92's)
Low film - My Name is Nobody (79)

I finally watched King Kong, and while I liked it more than the Lovely Bones, it was still a mediocre film, which dropped Jackson a bit. I expect, being a huge Tolkien fan, that he'll rise again after I see and rank the Hobbit film coming out soon. The other directors were adjusted because of the small score changes I make when I compare a group of films with the same ranking. Some of those films stand out as being better than the others, some are clearly worse, and you have to adjust based on that, so those are 1 or 2 point adjustments.

Re: Top 5 Director Averages

Geez, my list is in constant motion as I adjust my rankings. Still going off the four film minimum.

10. Stanley Kubrick (6 films) 83.00
High film - Paths of Glory (91)
Low film - Eyes Wide Shut (68)

9. Coen brothers (9 films) 83.67
High film - The Big Lebowski (89)
Low film - Burn After Reading and The Hudsucker Proxy (80s)

8. Tarantino (8 films) 83.88
High film - Pulp Fiction (93)
Low film - Jackie Brown (71)

7. Danny Boyle (4 films; New to the list) 84.00
High film - Trainspotting (90)
Low film - 28 Days Later (80)

TIED 5. Milos Forman (4 films; New to the list) 84.25
High film - Amadeus (94 - Top 10 film of all time)
Low film - The People vs. Larry Flynt (72)

TIED 5. Darren Aronofsky (4 films) 84.25
High film - Black Swan (95 - Top 10 film of all time)
Low film - Pi (79)

4. Christopher Nolan (7 films) 86.86
High film - Inception (93)
Low film - Insomnia (73)

3. Peter Jackson (5 films) 87.00
High film - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (95 - Top 10 film of all time)
Low film - The Lovely Bones (67)

2. Sergio Leone (4 films) 87.50
High film - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (92)
Low film - My Name is Nobody (79)

1. Hayao Miyazaki (7 films) 88.00
High film - Princess Mononoke (94 - Top 10 film of all time)
Low film - Ponyo (79)

I've been a bit rougher on ranking, so everyone but Nolan and the Coens dropped a few points. Despite George Lucas having previously been ranked higher on my list, I've also been a bit harsher to the Star Wars prequels now that I know that JJ Abrams is gonna be directing some new films, and Guy Ritchie dropped below Kubrick to also fall off the list due to the two new editions.

My bottom 5 haven't changed a bit, though.
