I thought he was not terrible when he was making little strange-yet-mildly-entertaining pictures like PU-239 and Sucker Punch; but he has no business in a major role in an X-Men film. (Or a Star Wars film for that matter.) IMO.

Even the strange-yet-mildly-entertaining Ex Machina, while decent, could have been far better with different casting, as he was by far the weakest actor in the picture.

Mayhaps thou must needs taketh thy "O" in for a checkup, although I agree he is out of place in Star Wars--mostly because the role & movie are so pedestrian. And that's a low blow dragging out an HBO cheap shot like Pu-239 from early in the guys career. It got him noticed.

For the record, Sucker Punch ROCKS! The second most underappreciated film of all time. Quick, take a deep toke on the hookah and remember what the Dormouse said, "For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know. You have all the weapons you need. Now feed your head....and fight!"

Well I appreciated Sucker Punch more than most, I think it was in my tier 5 or so. The action scenes rocked, but the rest of the film brought it down a lot for me. Anyway, I could go on and mention other films besides PU-239 (which was not a bad film), but the Criticker user-base probably wouldn't appreciate my views on Drive so I'll just leave it there and let my mini-review speak for itself. Agora was decent, albeit because of Rachel Weisz but Isaac deserves credit for not dragging it down!

Why wouldn't he want to be in Star Wars? I reckon that is basically a dream for nearly every actor (whether they admit it or not), not because of the role itself but (besides $) because it makes it much easier to get the roles they really want afterward. Sure it might not be the most "dramatically challenging" role, but having your name on that level of franchise opens so many doors career-wise for everyone except the handful of people who are already globally recognizable superstars (a position they've likely achieved by having already appeared in several globally successful mega-blockbusters like Star Wars).
