"Streets of Fire"--info

The most common phrases used by those who like the movie are "cult classic" & "guilty pleasure". Even though it is comic bookish (don't know if you could call it a graphic musical  ) Rock and Roll Fable, it does have some excellent high points like one-liners (delivered mostly by Amy Madigan and Rick Moranis ["I am a shithead"]), Diane Lane, Willem Dafoe and Bill Paxton got big screen boosts from it, likable (sometimes dumb) characters and especially the rock music which is what makes it a guilty pleasure. (Score produced by Ry Cooder, with Jim Steinman doing the anthem rock opening and closing numbers, the band on the bus is cool, and the inbred band in the R&R dive is a hoot, especially doing "One Bad Stud"--but I guess you have to be there.)

Anyway, the standard DVD ain't that good and I've been waiting for a blue ray copy of it for years. It came out 10 years ago in the failed HD DVD format, but it was never reissued in the US as a blue ray, though it was in other regions (dvd region crap being an issue ripe for another shout at the darkness thread). The region structure has been showing some signs of crumbling. I recently bought a 3D blue ray of Frozen, "region free" with what looks like legitimate Region B packaging in English, so I'm not sure how your supposed to know except to trust the seller. Anyway there's a German region free pressing of Strassen in Flammen with German packaging on Amazon (The Brit one won't work here) for the 100 or so members of Criticker who liked or loved it. Both region frees are regular or even lower prices, just takes longer to get here. It has the original English soundtrack with HD sound according to other reviewers.

I wonder what else is out there in "region free" that the assholes in this country won't produce. Undisputed (2002) !? I can only hope, and am prob'ly the only one.

OK, you can stop your celebrating and click over and buy one, even if you didn't like it (you've probably matured some since) or especially if you haven't seen it before.
