The cast kind of sucks outside of Fassbender's awesome presence and character. I could see people thinking they're passable, but it's odd how little is said about how unimpressive almost everyone is. Alien flicks have never been one for characters of any great complexity, but they were always enjoyable, well-acted, and you could make some sense of their actions.

[spoiler]And were the death scenes supposed to be intended as comedy? Cause from the pacing of some(face-hugger from black tar scene, I'm looking at you), to just the way of death (huge wheel of death & Michael Bay / Roland Emmerich-type scene of ship crew joking and triumphant in the face of imminent death) was hitting me as pure unintentional comedy. Even the man burning alive got me in a bizarre and random way. May be it was just my way to get some entertainment out of this mess.[/spoiler]

I was kind of lost at the get-go though, cause honestly the idea that it wasn't a general scientific interest, it wasn't some future space colonization / enterprise idea, but a search for our creator that got us to expand and find a planet with life is honestly insulting. From an agnostic perspective.

It's just mind-boggling how little any of what transpired made sense. This shit ain't Tarkovsky what is wrong with people
