(In what loser's fantasy would these two ever live together?!)

Probably my first and last Kevin Smith film. The first thing that struck me is the dialogue. It's cringeworthy, unnatural, and awful. If you're going to write unrealistic dialogue, at least make it funny or interesting. And this goes for the plot; it's wildly unrealistic, yet so lame and predictable. One particularly amusing example is that Miri's hair stays perfectly coiffed and resplendent at all times, whether she has just woken up, or is living in an apartment with no heat or electricity.

I thought at first this was some clever metajoke, but it's never even alluded to. The entire film is a bizarre loser fantasy, divorced from reality, mixed with cliches. You have your loud, angry black guy. You have your mean, foul-mouthed Indian boss. High school quarterback obsessed with his hair turns out to be gay. It's all presented in the standard manner, with the same lazy jokes, so any claim that this is "satire" is a bullshit excuse.

Seth Rogen is awful, too. You're supposed to sympathize with the guy and find him hilarious, not consider him a useless, despicable, unfunny sack of shit.

Avoid this like the fucking plague.
