Re: Cruella
You completely missed my own point. Namely, that literally any major development in our world, including scientific breakthroughs, can frequently be seen as nothing more than "exacerbating the issue" whose preconditions had already been established long ago. It's a semantics game, and doesn't make ...

Re: A Decade of Criticker
Pickpocket struck me as too abrasive to take seriously most of the time.

Re: Games Do Not Age
And yes, you absolutely have to take into account what era a game was released in. If you put out the equivalent of Super Mario Bros nowadays, it would be considered a very average, simplistic platformer lacking mechanics, movement options, and enemies, with some wonky physics. I don't really agree...

Re: Split up Certain Games for Different Consoles
I think it'd be a good idea to use the tab for "expansions" in submissions and add an option for a "handheld" or "separate console version". Granted, the latter is a lot harder to utilize here than the former but it is an idea, I think. Though I def think "mod" could easily fit into this category al...

Games Do Not Age
If there's ever a talking point that ever annoyed me about gaming discourse is the argument that "games age". Often times I get the sense this sort of criticism is tossed out by people who: 1. Don't actually understand the capabilities of gaming at the time 2. Are unaware of games that did similar t...

Re: Cruella
When did I say anything about it not being significant? I explicitly stated that wasn't my argument. You're arguing a strawman here. My argument is that Covid exacerbated the issue and can't be seen as the core cause, not that this exacerbation didn't matter. I was stating that localization has been...

Re: Cruella
I wasn't arguing that this exacerbation didn't matter so much as it is I don't think covid alone should be blamed for the issues to come. These things have been set in stone years ago, at best you can only say that covid was a silver bullet. To what extent Hollywood caters to China is a bit shaky. T...

Re: Cruella
The movie industry was more or less heading this direction anyway. Covid really didn't cause it so much as it exacerbated already established issues with Hollywood atm. Though keep in mind that the audience for theatre going has expanded. While it has been declining in western nations, in places lik...

Re: Introducing TV Episodes to Criticker
I personally prefer just rating the entire series. Is that going to still be an option?

Re: Cruella
I would hope it's nowhere near as bad as Maleficent. Seems like Disney likes to gets its jollies off in portraying its classic villains in a positive light, and thus far it hasn't been too enthralling.
