sinema

In the wake of moviepass's weekend of thrashing, anybody using sinema? Good/bad points about the service or app? I've only averaged 3 movies a month, so with moviepass going to the same price as sinema offers at that level, but without all the restrictions and blackouts and shifting terms and genera...

Re: American in France, prostitute movie

Prostitutes and hotels and watching footage and random actors like elijah wood made me think of
https://www.criticker.com/film/Hotel/

But that's Italy, not France and i couldn't sit through that movie so no clue what actually happens in it.

Re: release date resource

I was considering "movies that came out on your birthday" as a theme for my podcast and wanted to check if pulling up such a list to pick movies from was feasible and easy.

release date resource

Is anyone aware of a resource that can tell you what movies were released on specific days regardless of year? I.e. if I wanted to see every movie that ever got released on a July 29th. I've poked around wiki and imdb and google but if such a thing exists I can't come up with the right search string...

Re: Who are the ten directors you have seen the most films by?

Pleasantly surprised to see John Woo and Lucio Fulci marking #1 and #4 with Speilberg and Hitchcock as 2 and 3. Expected more of a Hitchcock, Speilberg, big budget big directors spread through my top ten, but it's actually a pretty precise look at where my movie-watching takes me, even including kai...

Re: On what basis do you rate films ?

Maybe it's because I'm not doing very well and generally feel sad/depressed. I imagine if one is generally "happy", one likes a sad/depressing film for a change, because it's just a temporary excursion into different feelings ... Somewhere between the lines of my post resides a similar se...

Re: On what basis do you rate films ?

I don't like to be sad; I don't watch sad films. Ergo no tension over what rating to give. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best. I also only listen to the "Inspired by Rednex" station on Spotify because 90s Danish pop song playlists are least likely to get emotional. I'm quite delicat...

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story

Gave me the most nostalgia of all the new films, even though I rate it the lowest of them. The story's so simple it feels kinda like it came out of the 80s and got a 2018 polish. I'm sold on Ehrenreich as Solo but wish the script didn't highlight his soft-hearted heroic side so much, to the point th...

When ackerman and lacy came on screen I stared at the theater wall. They were literally unwatchable.
