Re: Favorite Actresses
For Meiko Kaji, I highly recommend "Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion" and "Jeans Blues: No Future". "Wandering Ginza Butterfly" isn't bad, either. She also has a pretty good supporting role in Kinji Fukasaku's awesome "Yakuza Graveyard" also, props for including ...

Re: Entertainment (2015)
I appreciate you taking the time to write a thoughtful reply. I will readily admit that I have peculiar tastes in comedy, and dislike a vast majority of what most people commonly find to be funny. It's pretty rare for me to find a comedy film that I like, but I do enjoy a lot of stand up comics...wh...

Re: Favorite Actresses
Here's 10 in no particular order: Pam Grier, Claudia Cardinale, Meiko Kaji, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Juliette Lewis, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh, Kara Hui, Natalie Portman, Reiko Ike Note that all these ladies might not necessarily be the best actresses, but frequently appear in the sort of genre c...

Re: Entertainment (2015)
Fair points, I was just hoping someone could tell me what they saw of value in it. I get that the Neil Hamburger character is doing schtick, but it's not funny. Clearly, intentionally by design not funny. How is someone who isn't funny standing around awkwardly in the desert supposed to be entertain...

Entertainment (2015)
One of the very few times in recent years that Criticker's Probable Score has led me astray. It suggested I would rank this movie at 65/100. I endured the entire thing and ultimately rated it 10/100. Here's my mini review: "A terrible stand up comic performs a series of depressing gigs and trav...

Re: Do I need to see more bad movies?
yep. If you make 7/10 an average movie, and only rate something 5/10 or lower if it was objectively terrible, you are going to skew your percentiles high. for me, 5/10 is an average, watchable but forgettable movie. My 50th percentile still falls somewhere around 6.5/10, but I think it's a more usef...
