Different Versions of the Same Game

One of the pet peeves I have with adding games onto Criticker is that the mods seem to take issue with me separating handheld versions of the exact same title, even if they're completely different games. I've just put out Tarzan on the GBC to be added to the site, but I get the sense it's going to g...

Re: (very) old movies

I think you should be careful with how you give praise to the industry of the past because films were still a product. While it is true that films had become more "flashy," it'd be disingenuous to say that the industry at the time wasn't concerned with profit or marketability. It's why Hol...

Re: Who's on your Kumpel list?

I tend to put a lot of people on my kumpels because I like to read a variety of different views on the film. I don't like adding anyone who doesn't consistently write reviews as I feel a blank rating doesn't really say much. Which is why I try to make a review for everything I rate. Makes me curious...

Re: Your thoughts on IMAX?

IMAX is a weird thing for me because I usually find it to be trivial but there are occasions where it actually enhanced the quality of the film for me. For example, while I didn't like Dunkirk I thought IMAX made the use of sound in that movie feel more intense and gave a feeling of actually being i...

Profile picture Not Changing

Dunno if this is just me but attempting to change my profile picture doesn't work for me. Odd because it works fine before.

Re: What proportion of your ranked movies are by women?

OK, March, 2012: 2.85%, or 77 (of about 2700 or so). March, 2016: 3.36%, or 134 of 3993. March, 2018: 4.33%, or 200 of 4615. I didn't really plan to weigh in on the debate, but I'll say a few words anyway. Are movies "gendered" according to who directed them, or is it all the same...

Re: Do you change your ratings ?

I've done it plenty of times. In many cases, my first rating for something doesn't stick and I change it after putting more thought into how much I like something.

That implies the site isn't already "ruined."

Blindspotting

I'm kind of surprised no one talks about the awful final act in this movie - I seriously bursted out laughing at how ridiculous it was to see some black guy threaten a police officer with a gun through rapping. Not only is this completely unbelievable and absurd, but the police officer's reaction ma...

Re: Star Wars: Episode 9

Frankly, I have very low expectations for the nu-Star Wars films. All of them have been overly safe garbage with zero charm or charisma. At least the prequel movies tried to be something new and for what it's worth it actually did create some neat concepts that'd be utilized by EU content. The new f...
