Could someone delete my account?

Well, I knew the case of a guy who deleted his account on another website because he wanted with this to show his disdain for the current internet era or something like that... What I mean is that, when people actually care for deleting their account instead of leaving it inactive, it's because they find some reason to do it (as it is an extra effort to do), and in many cases it can be personal and not too comfortable to answer.
