I thought 3-Iron was a tad overrated, but it's not bad.

Kanal is the one of the three I've yet to see. I hope to tape it tonight.

I agree with you on 3-Iron, 'though I've got a lot of respect for its idiosyncrasy. It's got a lot of personality, and if it had clicked with me, I might have put it in the 85+ range. It's these highly subjective types of films that have the most potential, in my opinion. Whereas something like Shawshank hits all the bases, but leaves me with nothing new; uninspired.

I gave it a 72, but I could easily see why it would be perceived as something great.

But I don't think one could go far wrong if one watched either Kanal or Bin-Jip ;)

I was wrong. I was so wrong. Kanal is the best film I've seen in a long time.

And I watched it in the day time. I can't wait to see it at night.

A couple of 10th July recs:

11.40pm In the Heat of the Night (15) (FILM) 1967 - ITV3

2.10am The Hired Hand (15) (FILM) 1971 - Film4+1 ---- obviously it's on at 1:10am on the regular FIlm4 channel.

Looks like four hours sleep, tonight, for paul :D

Ah crap. You wait for these to come on the TV and when they finally do you can't find the time to watch them. Typical!

Nice thread! I've yet to see a Bergman film but I've got the Sky+ set up to record Wild Strawberries now.

It will likely be empty round here for a while as I have family down, so I don't get to watch much Sky TV. I'd post on here, anyway, but I don't like discussing what I don't get to watch :D .

It does seem that Film4 is having a bit of an Ingmar Bergman fest, though. I hate to think what I've missed.

Although Sommarlek isn't supposed to be very good.

Smiles of a Summer Night is on tomorrow

The Virgin Spring is on Saturday night (1am, Snday)

Persona is on Sunday night

Scenes From a Marriage is on Monday night.

---------

Dang it. Summer with Monika and The Seventh Seal were on the other day.

...awww Fuck. They may repeat in just under a week or so, they may not.
